Surrey, British Columbia is set to host the action-packed 3rd Annual Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament when The Surrey Lions compete with a myriad of highly acclaimed field hockey teams July 23-25, 2010. More than 20 of the world’s best teams in field hockey will compete in the Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament, an event that combines skill and talent on one field over three days.

New teams to the Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament line-up this year are England, Germany, and one of the best teams from India which is Air India. Officially sanctioned by International Field Hockey Association, the Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament will crown the event’s best team the coveted tournament trophy. The Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament has cast a wide appeal for an almost unheard of sport. In addition, former and present Hockey Olympians and other Hockey greats will be present at the tournament to promote the game of Field Hockey. 

The 3rd Annual is the only large-scale, international field hockey competition in British Columbia, Canada. The Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament is designed to promote and celebrate the spirit of the game of Field Hockey by creating a platform for today's athletes to compete in this sports discipline. The event features top field hockey athletes, as well as music and a variety of other activities. This year's Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament will see elevated levels of competition, an increased prize purse, and broadened appeal for spectators 

With over $20,000 in total prize money on the line, the competition is expected to be intense, the excitement electrifying, and the event an unparalleled experience for Field Hockey fans and athletes worldwide.

The tournament will be held for three categories of game play:
1. Men’s Division Premier Level (10 teams)
2. Social Division (8 teams)

North America’s top field hockey teams will be fighting for the top honors while showcasing their skills and talent to all attendees. Teams from Freemont CA, Dallas Texas, Phoenix Arizona, Los Angeles CA, Calgary AB, Toronto, Sacramento, Yuba City, Y2K LA CA, England, and India. In addition, some of our best local teams like United Bros, India Club, Hawks, UBC, Burnby Field Hockey, Panthers, Honk Kong Club, Surrey Sharks and Volunteers Army will demonstrate their local field hockey tenacity.
2010 marks the third year of the Surrey Cup International Hockey Tournament and again it is hosted by a committee of the Surrey Field Hockey Club. Free 5 Star accommodations will be provided to guest teams and meals such as, breakfast and lunch will be served to all teams.
